How far is our office from Hermosa?
About three road miles, or 7 to 12 minutes by car in city traffic. Our office is at 5841 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634, on the north side of W Belmont Ave between N Central Ave and N Austin Ave, with parking on site.

From the Kelvyn Park fieldhouse or Kelvyn Park High School, the drive is west on Fullerton, then north on Central. From Kosciuszko Park and its natatorium, Diversey west does the same job. From the blocks around the Healy Metra station or the Walt Disney Birthplace house on Tripp Ave, Cicero north to Belmont is the simpler start.
Same-day emergency dental care for Hermosa patients
We hold emergency slots at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM every weekday. Call when the front desk picks up at 7:00 AM and you'll usually be offered one of them that same morning. Exam and panoramic X-ray happen at that one visit, and so does treatment if the diagnosis allows, all by our dentists in our office.
Walk-ins aren't accepted. The call comes first, every time.
Call after 1:00 PM on a weekday and we may be able to see you later that day by appointment. If not, you get the first opening the next morning.
Same-day treatment here includes emergency tooth extraction, severe toothache relief and abscess and gum infection treatment, including a swollen jaw or face. When a tooth needs treatment we don't provide here, we explain what the tooth needs and the next step.
What an emergency dental visit costs for Hermosa patients
Paying without insurance, the emergency exam, consultation and panoramic X-ray come to $99. That covers the diagnosis. Treatment is separate, and its price goes on paper before anything is done. Prefer to go over that quote in Spanish? Our office staff can do that during office hours.
We work with most PPO plans, many Medicare dental plans and selected HMO plans. Insured through a plan on our list? Then the exam and X-ray are billed to your plan. CareCredit, Cherry, Sunbit, Eve Financial and Proceed financing are available for treatment. The plans we work with are listed on the cost and insurance page. Call and we check yours before you arrive.

- Turn west on Belmont and keep going past Central. Parking on site.
By bus: the CTA 77 Belmont bus runs along W Belmont Ave and stops on our stretch of the avenue. The 85 Central bus runs on N Central Ave and meets Belmont at the corner just east of us. In January, dress for the wait at the stop.
After hours for Hermosa patients
We close at 1:00 PM on weekdays, and the office is closed Saturday and Sunday. A real person still answers (773) 555-0199 24/7. During office hours that's our front desk. Outside them, an answering service logs your call and reserves the earliest opening for you, 7:00 AM the next business morning. A Thursday-evening call means Friday at 7:00 AM. A Saturday call means Monday at 7:00 AM. Getting through the night with a toothache or a cracked tooth is what the weekend and after-hours page is for.
An emergency room, not us, is the place tonight if swelling is heading for the eye or the neck, if swallowing or breathing has become a struggle, or if the jaw is injured. Community First Medical Center, at Addison and Central, is about a mile north of us on Central. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. Your tooth waits for us at 7:00 AM.
Emergency dental services for Hermosa families
A broken or chipped tooth gets its sharp edge smoothed, a crown when the tooth can be kept, or an extraction when it can't. A knocked-out tooth should ride here in milk or tucked in your cheek, never dry, and arrive fast; we splint it when it can be saved. Wisdom tooth pain gets an exam the day you call, and wisdom tooth extraction happens in our office. Swollen or bleeding gums and loose teeth get emergency gum treatment. A lost crown is re-cemented or remade, and denture repair and relines are handled here.
We serve Hermosa and seven other areas on Chicago's Northwest Side. The service area page lists each one with miles and minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get to your office from Hermosa without a car?
Yes. The CTA 77 Belmont bus runs along W Belmont Ave and stops on our stretch of the avenue, near Central. From the Fullerton or Diversey side, the 85 Central bus runs north on N Central Ave to Belmont, and it's a short walk west from that corner. Call before you leave so a slot is held.
What time should I call from Hermosa to be seen the same morning?
Call at 7:00 AM, when our front desk picks up, and ask for the 8:00 AM slot. The drive from Hermosa is 7 to 12 minutes, so there's time. If 8:00 AM is taken, the 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM slots are held for emergencies too.
Can I do the whole visit in Spanish?
During office hours, yes. Our office staff speak Spanish and can take your call, go over the $99 exam and the written treatment quote, and answer your questions at the desk. After hours, the answering service notes the basics and sets the earliest opening aside for you.
A tooth got knocked out at the park. What do I do before the drive?
Lift it by the white part you chew with, never the root, and don't scrub it. An adult tooth can go back into its socket if you can manage that; hold it there by biting softly on a cloth. If not, milk or the inside of your cheek keeps it alive. Then call (773) 555-0199 and head west on Fullerton.
