How far is our office from Elmwood Park?
About three and a half road miles. Elmwood Park is a Cook County village on the far side of N Harlem Ave (IL 43), and our office is inside the city at 5841 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634, on the north side of W Belmont Ave between N Central Ave and N Austin Ave. The drive is 9 to 15 minutes in ordinary traffic, with parking on site.

Wherever you start in the village, Village Hall, the Elmwood Park Public Library, Elmwood Park High School or the Metra station, there are two ways in. One is Harlem to Belmont, then east. The other, handier from the Grand Avenue side near Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets and Saint Vincent Ferrer, is Grand or Fullerton east to Oak Park Ave or Narragansett, then north to Belmont.
Same-day emergency dental care for Elmwood Park patients
Living outside the city line changes nothing about how we see you. Emergency slots are held at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM every weekday. Call at 7:00 AM when the front desk opens and you're usually offered one that morning. The exam, the panoramic X-ray and, when the diagnosis allows, the treatment are done at that visit by our dentists.
We don't take walk-ins. Phone first, then drive.
Calls after 1:00 PM on a weekday: we may be able to see you later that day by appointment. If not, you get the first opening the next morning.
In-house treatment includes emergency denture repair and relines, broken tooth repair and emergency tooth extraction, simple and surgical. When a tooth needs treatment we don't provide here, we explain what the tooth needs and the next step.
What an emergency dental visit costs for Elmwood Park patients
Paying without insurance, you pay $99 for the emergency exam, consultation and panoramic X-ray. Treatment is separate and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.
Most PPO plans, many Medicare dental plans and selected HMO plans are accepted. Insured with one of the plans on our list, the exam and X-ray are billed to your plan. Call and we check yours before you leave the village.

After hours for Elmwood Park patients
We're open Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and closed Saturday and Sunday. A real person answers (773) 555-0199 around the clock. During office hours, that's the front desk. Outside them, it's an answering service, which takes your name and number, hears what's wrong and reserves the earliest opening for you, 7:00 AM the next business morning. A Wednesday-evening call means Thursday at 7:00 AM. A Friday-night or weekend call means Monday at 7:00 AM. Steps for getting through the night are spelled out on the weekend and after-hours page.
Tonight belongs to an emergency room if swelling is spreading up toward the eye or down below the jaw, if swallowing or breathing is a struggle, or if the jaw is hurt. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. Closest to our office is Community First Medical Center, at Addison and Central.
Emergency dental services for Elmwood Park families
A cracked plate, a broken clasp on a partial or a loose fit gets emergency denture repair or a reline here, and immediate dentures are made here. Severe toothache is diagnosed with a panoramic X-ray and treated at the cause. A dental abscess or gum infection, including a swollen jaw or face, is drained and treated, with extraction when the tooth can't be saved. Wisdom tooth pain is examined the day you call, and wisdom tooth extraction follows here when the tooth needs to go. A lost crown is re-cemented or remade. Swollen or bleeding gums get emergency gum treatment.
Elmwood Park is the one village among the eight areas we serve. Montclare, just inside the city line, has its own page, and the service area page lists all eight with miles and minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Do you see patients from outside Chicago city limits?
Yes. The village line at Harlem makes no difference to us. Elmwood Park patients get the same weekday hours, the same held emergency slots, the same $99 exam and X-ray and the same written quote before treatment. Call (773) 555-0199 first, as everyone does, and we hold you a time.
What's the simplest route from Elmwood Park to your office?
Belmont east from Harlem. Continue past Narragansett and Austin; the office is on the north side of Belmont, before Central. From the Grand or Fullerton side, head east to Oak Park Ave or Narragansett, north to Belmont, then east. Either way, plan on 9 to 15 minutes.
My denture cracked. Can you repair it the same day?
Often, yes. Bring the denture and every piece of it, even a small chip. Our dentists look at the break and the fit, and when a repair or reline is the right fix it's usually done here. If the plate can't be repaired, we talk through a replacement, including immediate dentures when extractions are involved.
What happens if I call on a Sunday from Elmwood Park?
A real person answers, asks what's going on and reserves the earliest opening for you, Monday at 7:00 AM. The office is closed Sunday. Pain, a cracked tooth or a lost crown before Monday: our weekend and after-hours page tells you how to cope with each.
