From the Illinois Centennial Monument and the Logan Square Blue Line station, Milwaukee northwest is the one-turn route. From Palmer Square and the Kedzie and Logan boulevards, it's the same, or Fullerton west if you're already on it. From the California Blue Line station and the blocks near the 606, Fullerton west to Central, then north, keeps you off Milwaukee. The Kennedy's Kimball/Belmont exit also puts you on Belmont heading west.

Same-day emergency dental care for Logan Square patients

Every weekday we hold emergency slots at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The front desk picks up at 7:00 AM; call then and you're usually offered one of those the same morning. The visit covers the exam, the panoramic X-ray and, when the diagnosis allows, the treatment itself, all of it by our dentists under one roof.

No walk-ins. Four miles is a long way to drive on a hope, so phone first.

If it's already past 1:00 PM on a weekday, we may be able to see you later that day by appointment. If not, you get the first opening the next morning.

In-house treatment includes emergency tooth extraction, abscess and swollen jaw treatment and lost crown repair. When a tooth needs treatment we don't provide here, we explain what the tooth needs and the next step.

What an emergency dental visit costs for Logan Square patients

Paying out of pocket, the emergency exam, consultation and panoramic X-ray come to $99. That buys the diagnosis, not the treatment. Treatment has its own price, one you read on paper before anything is started.

Most PPO plans, many Medicare dental plans and selected HMO plans are plans we work with. Have a plan we work with? The exam and X-ray are billed to your plan. CareCredit, Cherry, Sunbit, Eve Financial and Proceed financing are available for treatment. The cost and insurance page lists every plan by name; call and we check yours before you arrive.

After hours for Logan Square patients

Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday we're closed, but the phone never goes to voicemail; a real person answers it 24/7. In office hours that's the front desk. The rest of the time an answering service jots down who you are and what's wrong and reserves the earliest opening for you, 7:00 AM the next business morning. A Monday-evening call means Tuesday at 7:00 AM. A Sunday call, Bears game or not, means Monday at 7:00 AM, and our weekend and after-hours page has the rundown on managing until then.

An emergency room is the right place tonight when swelling has climbed toward the eye or spread under the jaw, when swallowing or breathing takes effort, or when the jaw is injured. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. From our office, the closest hospital emergency room is Community First Medical Center at Addison and Central.

Emergency dental services for Logan Square families

Wisdom tooth pain gets a same-day exam, and if the tooth has to go, our dentists do the wisdom tooth extraction right here. A broken or chipped tooth gets its edge smoothed, a crown when the tooth can be kept, or an extraction when it can't. A knocked-out tooth should stay wet, in milk or in your cheek, and get to us fast; when it can be saved we put it back and splint it. Swollen, bleeding or receding gums and loose teeth get emergency gum treatment. Broken dentures and partials get emergency denture repair.

Logan Square is one of eight areas we serve. Hermosa, on the way, has its own page, and the service area page lists all eight with miles and minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Should I take Milwaukee or Fullerton from Logan Square?

Either lands inside the same 10 to 16 minutes. Milwaukee is one turn: northwest to Belmont, then west. Fullerton suits the south end of the neighborhood, around Palmer Square and the 606: west to Central, then north to Belmont. Pick whichever you're closer to and call before you leave.

Does the 77 Belmont bus go all the way to your office?

Yes. The 77 runs along W Belmont Ave, and our office is on Belmont between Central and Austin. Board at Belmont and Milwaukee heading west and get off near Central. Call (773) 555-0199 before you board so a slot is held when you walk in; we don't take walk-ins.

I lost a crown on a Saturday. Wait for Monday or go to the ER?

Call us now anyway. The answering service gets your name and number and books you into Monday's 7:00 AM opening. Keep the crown in a small bag, eat on the opposite side, and give very hot or very cold drinks a miss. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself.

Do you take out wisdom teeth the same day for Logan Square patients?

Often. The panoramic X-ray shows the roots and what sits around them, and our dentists decide from that. When extraction is the answer and you've signed off on the written price, it's usually done at that visit, simple or surgical. If the tooth should stay, we explain what it needs and the next step.
