How far is our office from Montclare?
About two and a half miles by road, seven to twelve minutes in city traffic. We're at 5841 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634, on the north side of W Belmont Ave between N Central Ave and N Austin Ave, in Belmont Cragin. Montclare's 60634, 60635 and 60707 addresses all reach us by the same basic move: east, then north, then east again.

From the Mont Clare Metra station on the Milwaukee District West line, you're near the Grand Ave side of the neighborhood. Grand east to Narragansett, north to Belmont, east to us. From Rutherford Sayre Park and its fieldhouse, Diversey is the natural road east. From the Galewood-Mont Clare Branch Library, either works.
Harlem Ave is the west edge of Montclare and the far end of the range; give yourself the full twelve minutes at rush hour.
Same-day emergency dental care for Montclare patients
We open at 7:00 AM and close at 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Same-day emergency appointments are held at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM every weekday. Call at opening and the front desk books you into one of them. If you call after 1:00 PM, we may be able to see you later that day by appointment; if not, you get the first opening the next morning.
There are no walk-ins. The phone call is the appointment, and it's what has the room ready when you come up Narragansett.
Our dentists do the exam, take the panoramic X-ray and, when the diagnosis allows it, treat the problem at the same visit. Toothache treatment, emergency extractions, knocked-out tooth care and lost crown repair are all done in this office. Your medication list helps, and so does your insurance card if you happen to have it.

After hours for Montclare patients
We close at 1:00 PM weekdays, and nobody is in the office Saturday or Sunday. The phone, on the other hand, is answered at every hour. Call (773) 555-0199 in the middle of the night and a real person takes down your name, a callback number and what's wrong, then reserves the earliest opening for you, 7:00 AM the next business morning. A Sunday call means Monday at 7:00 AM. How to handle pain, swelling and a broken tooth until then is laid out on the weekend and after-hours page.
Swelling that is moving up toward the eye or down past the jaw, real difficulty swallowing or breathing, or a jaw hurt in a fall or a crash means an emergency room tonight. Community First Medical Center, at Addison and Central, sits about a mile north of our door and is the closest. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. We do, starting the next weekday at 7:00 AM.
Emergency dental services for Montclare families
A child who takes a hit at Rutherford Sayre Park needs the knocked-out tooth kept in milk or saliva and brought to us fast; we reposition and splint it when it can be saved. A chipped or broken tooth gets its sharp edge smoothed, a crown when the tooth can be kept, or an extraction when it can't. A dental abscess or a swollen jaw is drained and treated the same day. Wisdom tooth pain in a teenager from Sayre Language Academy or Saint William is examined the day you call, and wisdom tooth extraction happens here when it's called for. Swollen, bleeding gums and loose teeth get emergency gum treatment. Cracked dentures are repaired, relined or remade through our emergency denture repair service.
Montclare is one of eight neighborhoods on our service area page, the one tucked closest to the Harlem Ave line on the city side.
Frequently asked questions
I'm near the Mont Clare Metra station. What's the quickest way to your office?
By car: Grand Ave east to Narragansett, north to Belmont, then east to our office between Austin and Central. Seven to twelve minutes when traffic behaves. Call (773) 555-0199 before you leave the station.
Should I take Grand or Diversey?
Use whichever you're closer to. Both run east to Narragansett and Oak Park Ave, and from either of those it's north to Belmont, then east. Traffic on the day matters more than the choice of street, so leave a few extra minutes at rush hour.
A tooth got knocked out at Rutherford Sayre Park. What do I do first?
Handle the tooth by its white chewing end and keep your fingers off the root. If there's dirt on it, a quick gentle rinse is enough, no scrubbing, then drop it in milk or tuck it inside your cheek. Call us and head up Narragansett right away. The complete sequence is on the knocked-out tooth page.
