Signs you need emergency denture repair today

A denture problem is an emergency when you can't eat, can't talk clearly, or can't leave the house. Call us for:

  • A full or partial denture that cracked down the middle or broke in two
  • A tooth that fell out of the denture, or chipped off
  • A partial with a snapped clasp that no longer stays put
  • A sore spot or raw patch under the denture that won't heal
  • A denture that has gone loose, clicks when you talk, or needs adhesive to stay put

Don't try to glue it. Household glue never lines up the halves exactly, and the residue makes a proper repair harder.

What happens at your same-day visit

Every piece comes with you, including a tooth that came off. Our dentists examine the denture and your mouth, and a panoramic X-ray checks the bone and any remaining teeth under a partial.

Cracks, clean breaks and a single lost tooth are the common repairs. Many are completed in the office the same day. A denture with multiple breaks or missing pieces may need a dental lab, and we tell you the timing before you decide.

Sore spots come from a high point on the denture pressing on the gum. Our dentists find the spot and adjust the denture, and the raw area heals in a few days.

A loose denture is relined. The gums and bone under a denture change shape over the years, so the plate stops matching them. A reline adds new material to the fitting surface so the denture seats firmly again.

A denture past repair is replaced. We make full and partial dentures here, from impressions through fitting. If teeth need to come out first, an immediate denture is made ahead of time and placed the same day the teeth are removed, so you don't go without teeth while the gums heal. Our emergency tooth extraction page covers the removals themselves.

A sore, bleeding gum under a partial can be the gums themselves rather than the appliance; see emergency gum treatment.

Cost of emergency denture repair in Chicago

The $99 exam and panoramic X-ray cover the assessment of the denture, the gums and any remaining teeth. Repairs, relines and new dentures are each quoted in writing before we begin.

We work with most PPO plans, many Medicare dental plans and selected HMO plans. If your plan is among those we work with, the exam and X-ray are billed to your plan. CareCredit, Cherry, Sunbit, Eve Financial and Proceed financing are available, and the front desk can go over them. Our cost and insurance page rounds out the picture.

Frequently asked questions

Can a broken denture really be fixed the same day?

Often, yes. A clean crack or a tooth that popped off is a repair our dentists can usually finish in the office during your visit. A denture broken into several pieces may need the lab. You'll know which before you commit.

Can I use a drugstore denture repair kit?

We'd rather you didn't. The kits rarely align the pieces correctly, and a denture repaired a millimeter off rubs the gum and cracks again. Keep the pieces separate instead. Then call (773) 555-0199.

How do I know if I need a reline or a new denture?

If the denture is intact and the teeth aren't worn flat, but it's loose, a reline usually fixes the fit. If the teeth are badly worn or the plate keeps cracking, a new denture is the sounder choice. You get both options in writing.

What is an immediate denture?

It's a denture made before your remaining teeth are removed, so it goes in the same day as the extractions. You leave with teeth. Because the gums shrink as they heal, an immediate denture needs adjustments and a reline over the following months.
